Carlos Moschetti, especialista del cultivo y jubilado del INTA Hilario Ascasubi, en un informe publicado por Palo Verde Semillas.<\/p>\n<p>El profesional destac\u00f3 que hay estudios realizados en California, USA, que indican requerimientos de aplicaciones de por lo menos 1200 mm de agua\/ha\/a\u00f1o, ya sea en forma de riego o de lluvias, para obtener una buena cosecha de semilla. Teniendo en cuenta que la \u00e9poca de aplicaci\u00f3n es tal vez tan importante como la cantidad.<\/p>\n<p>Los mayores rendimientos de semillas se logran empleando pr\u00e1cticas de riego que tiendan a promover un crecimiento lento y continuo, sin estimular excesivamente el desarrollo vegetativo y evitando un estr\u00e9s severo de humedad. El color de la planta es un buen indicador para determinar la necesidad de agua en el cultivo. La alfalfa con d\u00e9ficit de humedad adquiere una tonalidad verde-azulada, que es m\u00e1s evidente durante el alba que en ning\u00fan otro momento del d\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Moschetti remarca adem\u00e1s que el exceso de follaje disminuye la producci\u00f3n de semilla, aumentando el vuelco, provocando un retardo y disminuci\u00f3n de la producci\u00f3n de flores, favoreciendo la acci\u00f3n de insectos perjudiciales y reduciendo el contenido de az\u00facar en el n\u00e9ctar de las flores, haci\u00e9ndolas menos atractivas a los polinizadores. Un buen drenaje es esencial para evitar enfermedades de las ra\u00edces y exceso de crecimiento vegetativo y de las malezas.<\/p>\n<p>En los climas semi\u00e1ridos, los riegos de oto\u00f1o, invierno y tempranos de primavera, permiten mojar el perfil del suelo entre 1 y 1,5 m de profundidad, proporcionando la mitad del requerimiento de agua del cultivo, que crece en un suelo profundo de textura media. Los riegos efectuados durante la estaci\u00f3n de crecimiento, deben proporcionar la otra mitad, consigui\u00e9ndose generalmente con un riego de octubre \u2013noviembre, antes que comience la floraci\u00f3n, y uno o dos riegos adicionales cuando la semilla est\u00e1 en formaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<div class=\"todoalfalfa-final-de-la-nota\" id=\"todoalfalfa-2490632858\"><a
